How I Stopped Doom‑Scrolling and Started Showing Up With Purpose

When I was growing up, the big warning was that television would rot our brains. Don’t sit too close, don’t watch too much, don’t let it melt your eyeballs. TV was the boogeyman of its time.

Now it’s just… a tool. Something we use when we need it.

Social media is going through the same cycle - except instead of learning how to use it, a lot of people are treating it like it’s inherently dangerous, inherently toxic, or inherently “bad.” It isn’t. What is dangerous are the habits we’ve built around it.

In this week’s Carmen Talk, I’m breaking down how I changed my own habits from keeping my phone in my bag when I walk, to banning it from the dinner table, to removing social media apps from my phone entirely. I talk about boundaries with friends, curating your algorithm, and why intentional use matters more than ever.

If you’re ready to rethink how you show up online — and maybe laugh a little along the way — watch the video below.

As always, it really is All About The Joy.

Until next time,

Carmen
